1 Corinthians 15:41 – The sun is glorious in one way, the moon is glorious in another way, and the starts are glorious in their own way; for one star differs from and surpasses another in its beauty and brilliance.

1 Corinthians 12:2 – Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Have you ever wondered why you were created?  Have you ever asked, “Is there a calling on my life?”  And, if so, what is it?  After years of asking myself the same question, I finally realized that the gifts that we manifest naturally are the natural extension of our “calling” here on planet earth.

What are your gifts (what gets you excited!)?

How are you using or will you use these natural abilities to be a blessing to others?

Encouragement:  God made you.  He didn’t make a mistake.  He thought of you, He created you and now He continually delights in you.  Be confident that you are here for a purpose!  Co-partner with those around you to be the best you can be!  The body cannot function without all of it’s parts!

Awaiting His power! September 29, 2011

WOW! Our 4th day in Tanzania! Amazing things have happened and we are expectant of amazing things to come! Here is a re-cap of our days so far…

Sunday – we arrived in Tanzania around 8pm. After going through customs, we were greeted by our party (James, Ruth and Prince; Ondo; Gideon, all members of the New Life band). With greetings, hugs and joyful noises, we led a caravan to each host family home. Once arriving, we were greeted with a midnight feast! Bellies full, we passed out from jet lag.

Monday – we all woke up at different times (per our Tanzanian sister, Larissa loves the bed). Breakfast was served. Breakfast varied from house to house. Omelets (fresh eggs and veggies), toast, fresh fruit, chai tea, ginger/garlic tea, etc. Mind you, as we were guests, we were fed in abundance. Meals for the family are not as elaborate.

We went to the church to sort baggage, we celebrated Josiah’s birthday, and then we went to our homes to doll up for the nights festivities. The New Life Band members threw a party for us to introduce us to their band and family members. We sat outside, under the stars, dining on rice, potatoes, banana, cucumber salad, chicken (freshly sacrificed), cow meat, soda (Fanta and Coca Cola), and birthday cake. Things finally wound down at around midnight.

…Ok, done for now. Battery running low.

Hebrews 13:15 – Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.

Every morning my best friend and I offer up our 3 “gratitude attitudes”.  There are many things to be grateful for if we decide to be a people who continually offer up thanksgiving.  Our flesh looks for things to complain about, but the spirit searches for reasons to give God the glory!

Name 3 things you are grateful for!

Encouragement:  No matter how bad our day is going, if we offer up praise and gratitude to our King (the author and perfector), we receive a deposit in our hearts of joy and peace and gladness.

Proverbs 3:5-7 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Psalm 31:14-15 – I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God.  My times are in Your hands.

The more time we spend with someone, the more we get to know them, the more we enjoy their company.  The same holds true with our Daddy, the King of the Universe!  The more time we spend in His presence, the closer we become to Him, and the more we align with His will, His ways.  Intimacy is cultivated.

What is your definition of intimacy?

Are there areas in your life that you keep giving and taking away from God?

What is holding you back from giving your all?

What would it take for you to fully submit everything to God?

Encouragement:  Baby steps are still steps.  If you fail…get up, dust yourself off and try try again!

We’re here! September 27, 2011

Jambo/Mambo/Habari (hello, how’s it going) family!

Our total flight time was 19.5 hours. Not much sleep, but alive in the Spirit!

The weather has been cool, but that isn’t stopping us! We will be going to the school today and the market later.

We are blessed to be here in Tanzania! Our families have accepted us with open arms and hearts. They threw a party last night to introduce us to their families (New Life Band). Amazing food, amazing fellowship, God’s continued anointing and manifestation.

God blessed the land with rain the first day we were here! We are praying for more of His ‘rain’ as we continue on our journey.

Join us in doing our daily devotionals! It starts our day out right and blesses us from sun-up to sundown.

Our phone numbers here are: 011 255 755 090 789 (rick) and 011 255 755 094 662 (karen)

Signing off for now, but proud to be representing all of our people back in the states!

Ninakupenda (I love you!)

Isaiah 6:8 – Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send?  And who will go for us?  And I said, “Here I am.  Send me!”

Mark 11:23 – Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, “be lifted up and thrown into the sea” and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.

Has God called you…set you apart, “for such a time as this”?  Has He called you to step out of your box and follow Him as He did when He called His own disciples?  Are your desires changing to align with His?

Have you been challenged by God to go out and serve in a capacity that is out of your box?

If so, what steps are you taking to step out in obedience?

Do you believe as God says in Mark 11:23?  If not, what is holding you back?

Encouragement:  He has already prepared the way for you if He has called you!  All you have to do is take one little baby step (faith as small as a mustard seed) and He can carry the rest of the weight (move mountains!).

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s handiwork, recreated in Christ Jesus, that we may do those good works which God predestined for us, that we should walk in them.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Genesis 1:26 – God said, let Us make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness.

Guess what?  You are the sons and daughters of the King of Kings!  You were destined to receive the inheritance of Jesus!  You were created in the IMAGE of Christ!  He imagined us, delighted in us in our mother’s wombs and is excited today to see us walk into this identity!

Are you living below God’s best for you?  Why?

Ask yourself this question.  Who do I say that I am?

Have you ever felt unworthy of living as a recipient of God’s love/adoration/delight/blessing?

Who does God say that I am?

Since you are destined for greatness (wonderfully and beautifully made), write down 3 positives (YOU identifiers) that God created specific to you.  Can’t think of any?  Ask a friend to help you!

Encouragement:  God created you because He enjoys you!  I love Matthew 6:26 – “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather in barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them.  Are you not worth much more than they?”  Did you realize that we own the rights and privileges to the Kingdom as children spoken into existence by our Creator?!

Isaiah 43:19a – See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

Isaiah 42:9 – See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.

These passages are speaking of new beginnings.  Every new beginning was started by an ending.  As we step out in faith, I pray that God ignites a “new beginning” within you.  That the old has gone and the new is coming…

What are some things that you are ready to leave behind you as you embark on this adventure (habit, bondage, stumbling block)?

What are some things that you think God is stirring up inside of you?

Are there any promises that you believe God has spoken to you that have yet to come into completion?  If so, write them here.  Ask God if He is ready to fulfill those desires inside of you.

What is stopping you from “stepping out of the boat”?  Is fear a driver in holding you back?

Encouragement:  God is into new beginnings!  Iron sharpens iron!  Our pasts do not dictate our future!

Final countdown… September 22, 2011

Isaiah 43:19 – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I can’t even begin to tell you the process that God has taken us (but I will speak for me – Kelli) through over the last several months. When people say that iron sharpens iron, they really aren’t kidding!

The “Iron Sharpening Iron” process was carried out in a few steps.

  1. First was the pounding out of the sword with the iron hammer. They would flatten it around the edges like sheet metal.
  2. Second, they would use an iron file or and iron-ore stone to take create a razor-edge.
  3. Thirdly, they would use another piece of iron to rub and lift that edge. This would have to be done whenever the edge would become dull.

Pounding, filing, rubbing against another. Ouch! But…then you look at the outcome. The beautifully etched sword.

God is doing great and mighty things in the body of Christ, but more specifically in the body of people going to serve Tanzania. Many of us have been through testing waters, riding waves of fear, anxiety, attacks of the enemy. But, using any and all circumstances for His glory, our (faithful) Daddy is lengthening, deepening and widening our capacity for the Spirit to indwell us. He has trained us up in patience, perseverence, reverence of the Spirit. He is promising a life-altering experience – if we are willing to embrace it. I’m not talking “life as usual”. I am talking the big time. Many of us are believing for signs and wonders – healing, raising from the dead, deliverance. Many of us are contending for more of Him – intimacy, unwavering faith, the oil of joy. We have had pictures of the oil running down Aaron’s beard. We have had visions of the dead being raised. We have dreamed dreams of a transformation so great that our old selves will be hardly recognizable at our return. We are believing that He is tearing out the “old man” inside of us and replacing it with the “new man” (new wine skins) – the one we were destined/created to be. He is strengthening us in confidence, in the authority of the Spirit, in faith. Fine-tuning the fruits and gifts of the Spirit within each of us. None of us want to come back the same as we went…

Please partner along side of us as we contend before, during and after our trip for an encounter with the King!

Tethering ourselves to truth…
